Thanks to all who came to Waxy O’Connor’s on Hartwell Ave in Lexington to keep the St. Paddy’s Day celebration going! So back-to-back gigs are tough, our first was March 2012, tonight was our second (a canceled Newport gig from last year would have been the third). But we did it! Thanks to Linda (the 8pm ones) and Wendy (the 9pm ones) for sharing their pics!
* MCats Gig #67 – St. Patrick’s At The Outlook
Because it was Saint Patrick’s Day, and because the crowd was threatening to burn the place down unless we played something Irish, we played “The Unicorn Song,” which is basically “Margaritaville” with a brogue. Jono was on fire on lead guitar (in Paul’s absence). And there is video evidence of Unicorn, in case we ever have to testify about it.
* MCats Gig #66 – Outlook III
A last-minute sickness kept me from playing this gig, but the guys soldiered on without me!
* MCats Gig #65 – Outlook II
Here’s how we promoted this gig:
- This is not some cheap recording of The MCats Band.
- This is not some tribute band imitation of The MCats Band.
- This is the one, the only, ask-for-them-by-name: The MCats Band.
A fun gig, especially the second set when the crowed cleared the tables and made their own dance floor. A loud but good rendition of “Love Shack” as well! A downside is that Paul’s guitar broke (but we hear that it is fixable).
Also “Wagon Wheel” was requested, by Darius Rucker, former lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish:
Maybe we should learn that one!
* MCats Gig #64 – Waxy’s II
The MCats Band at Waxy v2 (feat. Rebecca Cazabon debuting Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar). Thanks to Carolyn Rosenthal for the pics!
Here’s how we promoted this gig:
The modern Irish bar welcomes the modern Irish band! Or at least an Acton band with an Irish lead singer.
Because nobody knows Waxy’s like Waxy’s, we stole this from their website:
“What makes Waxy’s different? It is more than fresh food, crafted cocktails and great times. It’s about sharing and always making room at the table for friends.”

Come to Waxy’s, The Modern Irish Bar in Lexington (http://www.waxys.com/locations/lexington/), on Fri 11/18/16 (9pm-11:59ish), hear some cool music, eat some good food, and definitely buy a round for the band!

* MCats Gig #63 – Waxy’s I
We finally got to play at an Irish bar! And we’re looking forward to playing there again! Thanks to Ed Sasena for sitting in on drums – we love you mans!

* MCats Gig #61 – Tiki Bar IV – Return of the Sax Guy
One of the things we love about playing at The Tiki Bar is that they let us play with golf carts! And occasionally loosen up the crown by providing and opening act! (Just kidding, thanks to Mickey Lorden for sharing the stage while we set up!)
Here’s how we promoted the gig:
If you are thinking that the titles of these gigs remind you of Star Wars, then whatever we are doing is working. (And, for the record, our sax guy didn’t actually go anywhere. And these are not the droids you’re looking for.)
In any event, the Tiki Bar venue is great, and we hope you’ll join us for food, friends, and fun. Bonus points if you noticed both the alliteration and the alphabetical order.
The details:
Come to Nashoba Valley’s outdoor venue, The Sunset Tiki Bar (https://

* MCats Gig #60 – The Phantom Gig
On or about 08/12/16, the band (minus Erik and Josh, but plus Tony) allegedly played a last-minute gig at The Tiki Bar. Since there is no recorded evidence of this gig, it shall be ever known as The Phantom Gig.
